Local food vendors, artisan makers and musicians have until 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 to apply for a spot at Christmas in Davidson, the three-night festival that draws thousands to South Main Street each December.
The Town of Davidson opened applications Monday, Aug. 3 for the 2026 event, which runs Thursday, Dec. 3 through Saturday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly, according to the town's event page. The town describes the festival as one of its signature events.
The application window mirrors last year's timeline, when the town opened its call for vendors in early August 2025 for the December festival.
Davidson is accepting applications in three categories: food vendors, artisan vendors and performers, including musicians, choirs and dance groups.
Food vendors must operate self-contained booths, obtain Mecklenburg County health permits and provide their own equipment. Electricity is available for an additional fee. Artisan vendors must supply their own white tents, tables and chairs, with tents required to comply with local fire codes. Electrical service requests must be made at the time of application.
Performers can apply at no cost but will not receive compensation. The town provides professional sound and lighting equipment, including microphones; performers must bring their own instruments and materials.
Applicants should expect to hear back by Oct. 15, with event assignments and participation details distributed by Nov. 1, Cornelius Today reported.
Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 on the Town Green, featuring Santa's arrival and the annual tree-lighting. The same weekend includes the North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade, which last year followed a roughly two-mile route from Davidson's Main Street to downtown Cornelius. Past festivals have also featured roaming carolers, a live nativity scene, an artisan village, children's crafts, carriage rides, an ugly sweater contest and a doggie fashion show. Admission is free.
