Davidson police seek camera footage after two break-ins in River Run

Two homes in Davidson's River Run neighborhood were broken into between Saturday, Aug. 8, and Tuesday, Aug. 11, and police are asking nearby residents to check their security cameras for anything that might help investigators.

The Davidson Police Department issued a community alert Tuesday, Aug. 11, confirming officers responded to two separate breaking-and-entering reports in the 17000 block of Stuttgart Road and the 17000 block of Gillican Overlook. Both homes were unoccupied at the time, according to the town's official Facebook page.

What police are asking

Detective AJ Heitmann is leading the investigation and asking anyone in the area to review exterior security camera recordings from the past several days. The department said residents who spot suspicious persons, vehicles or activity connected to the break-ins should contact Heitmann directly at 704-892-5131.

Police stressed that residents should not approach or confront anyone they believe may be involved in the incidents. Anyone witnessing suspicious activity in progress should call 911 immediately. The department encouraged all residents in the area to remain vigilant and report anything unusual to law enforcement.

About the neighborhood

River Run is a large residential community built around a golf course east of downtown Davidson. Stuttgart Road and Gillican Overlook sit within the neighborhood, which contains roughly 750 homes according to area real estate listings.

The two break-ins mark an unusual cluster for the neighborhood, though police have not said whether they believe the same person or group is responsible for both incidents.
