Huntersville Commissioner Edwin Quarles will host a new weekly radio show covering the Lake Norman area, with the first episode airing Monday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m. on WSIC.

The show, called "Plugged Into Lake Norman," will feature conversations about local businesses, nonprofits, events and community issues across Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Mooresville and surrounding towns, according to WSIC. Quarles announced the program during an appearance on WSIC's Good Morning LKN on Aug. 18.

Quarles, a U.S. veteran who serves on the Governor's North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission, framed the show as an extension of his community work. During the Good Morning LKN appearance, he discussed his efforts to expand veteran services access in Huntersville, according to WSIC.

That push has already produced results.

Mecklenburg County and the Town of Huntersville partnered to open a permanent Veterans Services office inside the new Huntersville Town Hall at 14704 N. Old Statesville Road, according to a Mecklenburg County announcement. The office provides walk-in help with housing, health care, education, employment and benefits Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Quarles championed that office during his first term. In his October 2025 candidate guide response to WSOC, he said: "I championed getting a Veteran's Service Office in Huntersville so our veterans and their dependents do not have to travel to Charlotte — that initiative will bring millions of untapped dollars to Northern Mecklenburg County that can be spent locally."

Now in his second term on the Huntersville Town Board, Quarles also backed the town's first full-time fire department, additional police officers and a downtown revitalization plan during his first term, according to the WSOC candidate guide.

The first episode of "Plugged Into Lake Norman" airs Monday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m. and can be heard and watched via the WSIC News App.
