Seven Davidson schools compete in back-to-school ice cream raffle

Seven Davidson-area schools will face off in a weeklong ice cream raffle starting Monday, Aug. 24, when Ben & Jerry's Davidson launches a five-day celebration tied to the first week of classes.

The shop at 202 South Main Street is running what it calls a "Mooovarlous Back-to-School Celebration" from Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 28, according to an announcement published by News of Davidson. Any student who buys an ice cream item during the week gets a raffle entry to drop into their school's designated bucket.

The seven participating schools: Davidson Elementary, Davidson Green School, Community School of Davidson, Davidson Day School, Pine Lake Preparatory, Bailey Middle School and Trinity Christian Academy. Each school gets its own bucket, and one winner will be drawn from each, meaning seven students total will take home prizes.

Prizes include Ben & Jerry's gift certificates for individual winners. The grand prize is an ice cream class party pack for the winning student's class period, pending teacher permission.

The celebration overlaps with the start of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools 2026-27 year on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the second day of the event. That means CMS students heading back to Davidson Elementary or Bailey Middle can stop in after their first day of classes.

The store is open noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. Friday. The announcement lists event hours as noon to 9 p.m. daily, so families planning a Friday visit may want to confirm hours by calling 704-892-0604.
