A truck crash on Old Statesville Road in Cornelius around 2:36 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
The single-vehicle wreck happened in the 18000 block of Old Statesville Road, between Mayes Road and Bailey Road, according to Queen City News, citing Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue and the Mecklenburg EMS Agency, known as Medic.
Firefighters from Engine 3 and Hook & Ladder 44 arrived to find the truck with heavy damage and one occupant who had been ejected from the vehicle, Hoodline reported, citing a Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue Facebook post.
The occupant was ejected.
Fire crews stabilized the patient at the scene before handing them off to Medic paramedics. Medic transported the person to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to Queen City News. Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue then turned the scene over to the Cornelius Police Department.
The police department is investigating the crash. Authorities have not disclosed what caused the wreck, and no charges or citations have been announced. The identity of the injured person has not been released, and their current medical condition beyond "serious injuries" is unknown.

Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue, which responded to the crash, logged 3,358 calls for service across its northern Mecklenburg County territory in 2025 while operating two firehouses, according to Hoodline. The early-morning wreck on Oct. 1 adds to that workload as the department enters the final quarter of 2026.
