A new dog daycare, boarding and grooming business has opened on Statesville Road in Cornelius, filling a space that previously housed another pet-care operation.
Paws Life Dog Resort & Spa, at 18920 Statesville Road near Exit 28 off I-77, is owned by Kayla Shaw, who brings more than 25 years of experience in dog boarding and daycare management. Shaw worked at the same location for years when it operated as PURRfect Paws, which has since closed, Cornelius Today reported.
The locally owned, woman-owned business offers daycare, overnight boarding and professional grooming. Boarding dogs get suite-style accommodations with elevated beds and group playtime in a social play environment, according to the Paws Life website. Owners can watch their pets through free live HD webcams streaming from multiple indoor and outdoor cameras.
New customers must pass a temperament test before their first stay.
"Lulu taught me that every dog has their own quirks, their own comforts, and their own way of showing love," Shaw said in a July 31 press release announcing the grand opening, referring to her Shih Tzu who serves as the resort's mascot. "That's exactly the kind of attention every pet at Paws Life deserves."
Paws Life markets itself as a local alternative to corporate pet-care chains, with staff who personally know every dog, according to the business.
Paws Life is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are limited to pickup and drop-off windows at 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. Reservations can be made online at pawslife.fun or by calling or texting (704) 896-6770.
