North Mecklenburg High School hosts a Curriculum Night on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with breakout sessions on college applications, NCAA eligibility, magnet programs and career pathways.
The Huntersville school's "Family Academy, Future Focused" event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Food will be provided, and all families are welcome, according to the school's announcement.
Families can visit their student's teachers and learn about classroom expectations. The school is also offering five breakout sessions:
- Navigating high school: Tips, resources and supports for students and families
- Magnet programs: Information on the school's magnet pathways
- College application preparation: Guidance on timelines, requirements and next steps
- NCAA college sports: Eligibility rules, requirements and the recruitment process
- Occupational Course of Study: Career pathways, certifications and real-world opportunities
The Occupational Course of Study, or OCS, is a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools diploma pathway primarily for students with disabilities. It builds work-ready and community-college-ready skills through school-based training, community-based training and paid employment hours, according to CMS.
